Lincoln Chipotle manager allegedly embezzles $2,176, leaves country

An assistant manager at the SouthPointe Chipotle Mexican Grill, 2801 Pine Lake Road, allegedly embezzled nearly $2,200 and told his employer he had left the country to deal with a family emergency, Lincoln police said.
The suspect, whose name is not being released, went to the bank to deposit $2,176.94 around 10:30 a.m on April 17 and returned to the restaurant, Capt. David Beggs said.
The money was never deposited, LPD said.
The suspect then went to Omaha to pick up food supplies and called to say he was 10 minutes away, but never arrived back at the Lincoln restaurant, LPD says.
The suspect later called and said he had to attend to a family emergency in Mexico, Beggs said.
Thursday, the management discovered the deposits were never made and filed a report with Lincoln police.
